Literature Text

She rides the carousel each night,
Around it goes in a whirlwind flight.
Each night at three she stares,
And relives the tales too painful to bear.
Ahead of her the horse she sees,
A unicorn that is sure to please.
Up and down and around it goes,
Out of her grasp she already knows.
Behind her, the one to fall,
A horse she met too late at all.
Dark and strong like fine wine,
It will always be the last in line.
Then the horse she rides every night,
A chain that binds her to the seat so tight.
Tears stream down because this tale,
She already knows is doomed to fail.
Out of grasp, tied down and the last,
As the carousel goes around so fast.
Lights blinding and fueling fear,
Each night she gets off in tears.
This is based off of a dream I had several times, and I think it represents me in a certain way. Ahead are the things I want, behind me are the things that were presented to me that I cannot have, and I am bound to what I am with now.
